The home page of Internet Explorer 7 in Windows Vista is reset after you install the cumulative security update for Internet Explorer MS09-014 (KB963027)
On a computer that is running Windows Vista, consider the following scenario:
- You install the cumulative security update for Internet Explorer MS09-014 in Knowledge Base (KB) article 963027.
- You restart the computer.
In this scenario, the home page is reset to the URL that is described under the Home_page item in the install.ins file in the %SystemRoot%\Program Files\Internet Explorer\SIGNUP folder.
This issue occurs because the update that is described in security update MS09-014 KB963027 reapplies Internet Explorer branding. This behavior can affect other Internet Explorer settings specified by the install.ins file, such as changing the Internet Explorer home page and re-adding favorites.
