SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, server name mappings are only updated on the initial crawl of a content source or when new documents are added to the index. Therefore, you cannot change server name mappings without deleting and then re-crawling a content source, or without adding new documents to the index.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, apply both of the following hotfix packages:
  • 973409  (http://kbalertz.com/Feedback.aspx?kbNumber=973409/ ) Description of the Office SharePoint Server 2007 Cumulative Update Server Hotfix Package (Coreserver.msp): August 25, 2009
  • 973410  (http://kbalertz.com/Feedback.aspx?kbNumber=973410/ ) Description of the Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 Cumulative Update Server Hotfix Package (Sts.msp): August 25, 2009
