Text strings that are not in a clipping region are printed unexpectedly when you use Microsoft XPS Document Writer (MXDW) to print a file that has clipping regions to an XML Paper Specification (XPS) Document file. This problem occurs on a computer that is running Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2003, or Windows Vista.

Notes

• Only text strings that are in the clipping region should be printed in the XPS Document file.
• This problem also occurs when you establish a terminal server session to a terminal server that has the Terminal Services Easy Print feature enabled. In this situation, the problem occurs when you use a redirected MXDW in the terminal server session to print the document.

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Windows Server 2003 file information notes

• The files that apply to a specific service branch (QFE, GDR) are noted in the "Service branch" column.
• GDR service branches contain only those fixes that are widely released to address widespread, extremely important issues. QFE service branches contain hotfixes in addition to widely released fixes.

• Service Pack 1 is integrated into the release version of Windows Server 2008. Therefore, RTM milestone files apply only to Windows Vista. RTM milestone files have a 6.0.0000.xxxxxx version number.
• The MANIFEST files (.manifest) and the MUM files (.mum) that are installed for each environment are listed separately in the "Additional file information for Windows Server 2008 and for Windows Vista" section. MUM and MANIFEST files, and the associated security catalog (.cat) files, are extremely important to maintaining the state of the updated component. The security catalog files, for which the attributes are not listed, are signed by using a Microsoft digital signature.
