You receive an error when you try to create a Unified Messaging Auto Attendant in the Exchange Management Console: "The pilotidentifier 'string value' is not a valid extension"
In Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 or in Microsoft Exchange Server 2010, you try to create a Unified Messaging (UM) Auto Attendant in the Exchange Management Console. Then, you receive the following error message:
Error: The pilotidentifier 'string value' is not a valid extension.
After you receive this error, you cannot create the Auto Attendant.
This issue occurs when the UM Auto Attendant uses
Telephone Extension as the
URI Type for the UM Dial Plan, and the
pilotidentifier parameter contains nonnumeric string characters. The
URI Type for
Telephone Extension can only accept numeric strings as
pilotidentifier parameter values.
You must use numeric characters for the
pilotidentifier parameter values when you create an UM Auto Attendant that uses
Telephone Extension as the
URI Type for the UM Dial Plan.

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
