Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 does not support the same namespace across multiple farms
Windows
SharePoint Services 3.0 does not
support a scenario in which the same namespace is used across multiple farms.
For example, assume that you use the same namespace on more than one farm, and each farm
hosts a different URL underneath
that namespace, such as "/sites/siteX" on Farm A and "/sites/siteY" on Farm
B.
Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 does
not support the same namespace across multiple farm for the following reasons:
- For everything to work correctly, SharePoint Technologies requires
a root site collection in the same Web application. SharePoint and
supporting client applications may use JavaScript files or
supporting
files from the root site collection to enable caching and better performance.
- If a service is needed by a farm, local service calls may
fail. For example, if a service requires data from another site that
is not local to the farm, the operation may fail.
- If
you use the same namespace across multiple farms, performance is decreased. If the JavaScript files or
the supporting
files are in different versions,
errors and data loss may occur. Even a single hotfix
difference may cause major failures in rendering
cascading style sheet (.css) files, JavaScript (.js) files, or other supporting files.

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
