This article describes the information that you need and how to set up an email account in Microsoft Entourage for Mac.
Microsoft Entourage includes an account setup wizard. When you add an email account, the wizard tries to set up the account automatically.
Note Because there are many Internet service providers (ISPs), Entourage may not configure your settings automatically. In these cases, you have to manually enter the setting information that you obtain from your ISP.
If the account is already set up in another client email program, such as in Apple Mail, the settings can be imported into Entourage. To do this, click
Import on the
File menu in Entourage. Next, click
Information from another application, and then follow the steps to complete the wizard.
Step 1: Download the latest service packs and updates
Make sure that you have the latest updates, including service packs, installed for Entourage. If you do not have Service Pack 2 installed, the account settings that are selected automatically might not be correct, and you will have to configure the settings manually.
You can obtain Microsoft Office service packs from any Microsoft Office for Mac application. To do this, start the application, click
Help, and then select
Check for Updates. Or, you can visit the following websites, in order, to install Service Pack 1 and Service Pack 2:
Service Pack 1:

Service Pack 2:

To determine whether you have the appropriate service pack installed, start Entourage. On the Entourage menu, click
About Entourage. Note the "Latest Installed Update." The number should be 12.2.0 (or higher). If the number is not 12.2.0 or higher, you do not have Service Pack 2 installed.
Step 2: Verify your user name and your password
The steps in this section apply if you already have an existing web-based account.
Before you begin, make sure that you have the correct user name and your password. First, sign in to your web-based account to make sure that you have all the information. If you do not enter the correct user name and password, you will receive an error message when you try to send or receive email.
Outlook 2011 will automatically enter the incoming and outgoing server names and server ports. If you cannot receive or send email, check these settings with your web-based email provider or your Internet service provider.
If you have the correct user name and password, go to step 3.
Step 3: Set up your web-based account in Entourage
- Start Entourage.
- On the Tools menu, click Accounts.
- Create a new account:
For Microsoft Entourage 2004 for Mac:- In the Accounts window, click the Mail tab.
- On the New drop-down list, click Mail.
For Microsoft Entourage 2008 for Mac:- In the Accounts window, click the Mail tab.
