MORE INFORMATION

You may experience one or more of the following licensing-related issues in MOM 2005.

Event ID 21711 is logged on the MOM server

The following event may appear in the Application log on the computer that is running MOM 2005:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Microsoft Operations Manager
Event Category: MOM Server
Event ID: 21711
Date: date
Time: time
User: EXAMPLE\MOM_Action_Account
Computer: MOM_Server_Name
Description: There are n more managed computers in this management group than the number of specified MOM management licenses.

You may experience this issue after you install MOM 2005 Service Pack 1 (SP1). MOM 2005 SP1 lets you record the number of licenses by entering the number of licenses when you install MOM 2005 SP1 or by modifying the Licenses global setting.

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
1.On the computer that is running MOM, start the MOM 2005 Administrator console.
2.In the MOM 2005 Administrator console, expand Administration, and then click Global Settings.
3.In the right pane, double-click Licenses.
4.On the Licenses tab, type the number of MOM management licenses in the Number of MOM management licenses box, and then click OK.

You receive a non-compliance warning and the Licenses item does not appear in the MOM 2005 Administrator console

When you start the MOM 2005 Administrator console on a computer other than the computer that is running MOM, you may receive the following error message:

NOTE: This alert is based on user input and does not validate actual licenses acquired.
Additionally, if you expand Administration, and then click Global Settings, the Licenses item does not appear in the right pane.

This issue may occur if the following conditions are true:
•The computer that is running MOM 2005 has been updated with MOM 2005 Service Pack 1 (SP1).
•The computer on which you are running the MOM 2005 Administrator console has not been updated with MOM 2005 SP1.
To resolve this issue, run the MOM 2005 SP1 Setup program on the computer on which you are running the MOM 2005 Administrator console. Select the option to perform a custom installation to update the MOM 2005 Administrator console with MOM 2005 SP1.
